Where to Buy Used Clothing in Bulk for Resale (2026 Buyer's Guide)

A practical guide to sourcing used clothing in bulk for resale — the three main sourcing routes, what grading actually means, realistic per-piece pricing, and the questions worth asking before you buy.

Where to Buy Used Clothing in Bulk for Resale (2026 Buyer's Guide)

If you resell clothing on Depop, Poshmark, eBay, Whatnot, or Vinted, sourcing is usually the part that eats the most time. Thrifting one item at a time works when you're starting out, but it doesn't scale — you can only carry so many bags out of a Goodwill in a weekend. At some point, most resellers start looking at buying in bulk. This guide walks through the actual options, what the industry terms mean, and what to expect to pay per piece.

The three main ways resellers source in bulk

Thrift stores and estate sales. Cheapest per item, but the time cost is real — driving between stores, digging through racks, and hoping for name brands. Good for building an eye for quality, not great for consistent volume.

Auction bins and pound/pay-by-weight stores. Ungraded, unsorted, sold as-is by the pound. You might find a designer piece in a bin of stained basics, or you might not. Margins can be excellent if you're willing to sort through a lot of dead weight, literally.

Graded wholesale suppliers. Clothing that's already been sorted by condition and often by category (jeans, dresses, sweatshirts, tees) before it reaches you. You pay more per piece than a pound-store bin, but you know roughly what you're getting, and you skip the sorting step entirely. This is where a site like Biz2Gig fits — mixed resale packs sorted and graded before they ship.

What "grading" actually means

Grade A (sometimes called Cream or Grade A+) means clean, gently used, no major stains, rips, or odors — the kind of piece you could list without a lengthy "condition notes" paragraph. Lower grades mix in pieces with wear, minor flaws, or damage meant for rag/export markets rather than resale. If a supplier won't tell you their grading standard, that's a red flag before you buy a single pack. We've written a full breakdown of what separates the grades in Grade A vs Grade B Wholesale Clothing if you want the longer version.

What should you actually pay per piece?

Pricing varies a lot by category and grade, but as a rough benchmark, graded Grade A resale lots in the US typically run somewhere in the $3–$7 per piece range depending on category — denim and outerwear usually sit at the higher end, basic tees and mixed lots at the lower end. If you're being quoted well above that for ungraded or unknown-grade stock, ask what's driving the premium before you commit.

Category packs vs. mixed lots

Mixed lots give you variety and are usually the cheapest way in per piece, but a mixed box also means less control over what you're actually going to list. Category-specific packs cost a bit more per piece but let you go deep on what already sells for you — if jeans move fast in your shop, a dedicated wholesale jeans pack means every piece in the box is denim. The same logic applies to sweatshirts and track jackets and women's dresses. If you're not sure which is the better starting point for your shop, we've laid out the actual trade-offs in Resale Pack vs Full Resale Pack.

Questions worth asking any bulk supplier before you buy

  • What's your grading standard, and who checks it — is it hand-sorted or bulk-weighed?
  • Is shipping actually included, or added at checkout? A quoted price that jumps at the last step is one of the most common ways resellers get burned on a first bulk order.
  • What happens if a pack doesn't match what was advertised — is there a real return or replacement window, or is it final sale?
  • Can you see real photos of a shipped pack, not just styled flat-lays?

Those four questions alone will filter out most of the suppliers not worth your money.
